Sybill Trelawney teaches divination. A lot of people think that her prophecies are fakes. Nevertheless, from time to time, she does make prophecies which come true. Her few true prophecies seem only to happen when she is in a trance and unaware of what she is saying, with no memory of it afterwards.

Her first  true prophecy made to Albus Dumbledore, also called “The Prophecy”, sounds like that :

 “…either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives ..."
